Dubai....

Our last full day here - warmly welcomed by all Pauline's friends - only sorry I can't seem to make our camera talk to Elaine's laptop and send photo with this...tour has got off to a good start with much food and drink and music making with members of Dubai's Chamber Orchestra in Elaine's garden...Christian & Chris have also led Tim round the seedier bits of Dubai in search of snooker while the ladies remembered happy days with Pauline at the Lime Tree Cafe.
Later in Delhi....Photo added, and apologies for the curt style - that's me on Day 3/4 of No Smoking - Brain Dead at the computer. We'll try to make Delhi a livelier entry when we've seen a bit more...

I gather you've made it to Delhi. Give it my love. Your house was still standing last Saturday, and the car still going (very thoughtful to leave the map of Brighton). But I felt I must contact you to let you know, in case you missed it, that Bo Yibo has passed on, aged 98. Not quite immortal after all. Andy and I are having the snooker table delivered tomorrow. You should try the Gymkhana Club. I'm sure they ahve one; or failing that, the bar at the Habitat Centre (behind a restaurant called Delhi O Delhi, I think, on the fifth floor of the residential block).
Your nice neighbour with the dog said he was sorry not to have seen you to wish you bon voyage and asked me to do it for him.

Much love

Simon

Rather sadly,I keep a collection of shampoos from every hotel that I have stayed in on a shelf in the bathroom. I noticed for the first time just now that the Chelsea Hotel NYC describes itself in small but beautiful copperplate script on its shampoo bottle as " a rest stop for rare individuals" This is of course nonsense. The traffic noise (which Joni Mitchell charmingly credited with the writing of the words of Chelsea Morning) prevents rest and the rare individuals are mostly deranged. Anyhow it was at this point that I thought of you guys. It may be that your accommodation in Delhi does not run to Cucumber and Aloe Vera Shampoo like the Chelsea but it is probably less shabby. I have no doubt that you will rest with rare individuals. Love Harry (first time blogger)
